Don't Be Surprised

I’m volunteering and serving in several different capacities.  I’m thankful that I can get up and go and support numerous activities for my household and community.  I chose to take on some additional responsibilities this year that I did not have before and this has caused me to come into contact with some new people.   It has not been long and already there is some drama!  I was feeling like, “Lord help!” Naturally, being the peacekeeper that I am I was trying to figure out a way to sort everything out.  But then it dawned on me… This was a distraction!  I was not going to sabotage myself by getting wrapped up in things outside my control.  I will trust God for the outcome, and most importantly keep my eye on the prize!!!

Don't be surprised!! When your purest of intentions are met with adversity, see the bigger picture.  Ephesians 6:12 says “For we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of darkness of this world, against spiritual wickedness in high places.”  We shouldn’t be surprised when people do not know how to receive us, we are children of God.  We carry the light of the world and darkness cannot comprehend the light!!!  God is up to something great in my life and yours in this season!!  The enemy will use both the big and little things in an attempt to get us off our post.  Don’t allow it!!  You and I are on divine assignment.  Nothing is larger than the work that God has laid out for each of us to accomplish.  Go forth with tenacity, despite your circumstances!!

“But I say to you, Do not resist the one who is evil. But if anyone slaps you on the right cheek, turn to him the other also. And if anyone would sue you and take your tunic, let him have your cloak as well.  And if anyone forces you to go one mile, go with him two miles… You have heard that it was said, ‘You shall love your neighbor and hate your enemy.’ But I say to you, Love your enemies and pray for those who persecute you…(Matthew 5:39-41,43-44)

Love others, pray for everyone, especially those that don’t mean you well.  God sees you and I.  These are the moments to capitalize on, difficult times, difficult people, ask God how to be a reflection of Him.  Don’t allow the enemy or your own emotions to allow you to miss out on an opportunity to shine bright for Jesus.  Be strategic with what you allow to hold space in your heart and thoughts.  Minimize the mess and maximize on what matters!

And pray in the Spirit on all occasions with all kinds of prayers and requests. With this in mind, be alert and always keep on praying for all the Lord’s people -Ephesians 6:18 (NIV)

Prayer:

Thank you Lord for this day! Thank you for maturing me to handle whatever comes my way.  Thank you for helping me to remember my life is laid out as a sacrifice for you daily.  Help me to reflect you in my thoughts and actions towards other.  I want to reflect the true qualities of a fulfilled woman in you! Amen!

  1. Ohhh myyyy...beautiful. I hear you Lord. I was feeling discouraged and ready to quit joining a team with people where challenges keep arising but God has me there for a reason and I will choose to minimize the mess and maximize what matters. So often I get tired of being the peacemaker and saying can we all get along but if that is what he has called me to do then I need to be content in it. Bless you Robby and thanks. Lord God continue to use Robby for your glory and as you teach her it will bless others. Thank you for encouraging her right now that THIS matters and will help other women in their walks with you. I pray that you increase her in Jesus name, Amen!
