What's Your Motive?

Why am I doing this blog again? I couldn't help but ask myself when I realized, that it is Wednesday and I'm due to have another post up. I have the responsibility of being a wife, Mom, PTO leader, boyscout mom, and a myriad of other tasks. Why did I take on another task? I mean really dont I have enough on my plate?! But seriously I wanted to take a personal inventory about my motives, and I think thats always important. I love writing and I knew if I did not start this blog it would never happen. I had a million and one excuses why this could wait or stay in one of my many journals on my nightstand. I had to just DO IT!! The Holy Spirit would not let me go until I started this blog. Some things we can not overthink and over plan, we simply have to obey God's urging, and allow God's grace to carry us through. Its soo very exciting when you let go of the reigns and say "Lord, your gonna have to make this happen!"

I used to wonder why I decided to come home and be a stay at home mom... The high price of childcare was definitely a factor but, I knew it was much more to this transition for me. When I came home initially I felt like I wasn't doing "enough." I'm caring for my kids and household, but shouldn't I be doing more? Thankfully I got locked in to a small group at my church called The Homemakers Ministry, a power packed group of mommas all with a heart to serve their home and please God in the process. This group of women and our two passionate leaders have changed my life. It was here that I learned to truly embrace being a homemaker and develop a passion for what God views as important. I realized some of my views were skewed. My only motive and goal as a homemaker is to please Christ, the opinions of others and what today's culture says, is null and void. Gods Word says being a homemaker is to be my priority, He sees the work of my hands. Don't allow the opinions of others to trump what God tells us in His Word.

Take heed that you do not do your charitable deeds before men, to be seen by them. Otherwise you have no reward from your Father in heaven -Matthew 6:1(NKJ)

Take a personal inventory of why you do, what you do... What if the world couldn't see what you do on social media? Would you still do what your doing ? Why or why not? God sees your heart. The only thing that matters at the end of the day is that you obey the voice of the Lord. Don't delay. Has God called you to it? Then, without hesitation go and do it!!

I will hasten and not delay to obey your commands -Psalm 119:60(NIV)

Prayer:
Lord, I thank you from freeing me from the opinions of others and today's culture. Your Word takes priority in my life. Help me to allow your Word to daily be the lens by which I make decisions in life. I love you God and I chose to obey whatever you say do. Amen.
