Lifestyle of Love

Consider the kind of extravagant love the Father has lavished on us… -1 John 3:1a

I love Valentine’s Day and how many have made it more than just a day, but a season of loving those that matter most to them. If you are one of the ones that may see Valentine’s Day as superficial... remember, as individuals, we always have an opportunity to see beyond the surface and create a meaningful time of reflection. As you mature, you realize relationships are not about just celebrating on certain days of the year, but rather, cultivating a lifestyle of love each and every day.

Beloved, let us love one another, for love is from God, and whoever loves has been born of God and knows God -1 John 4:7

LOVE YOURSELF: I know I can only sustain a healthy view of myself if I see myself as a woman who God loves. God’s love and His purpose define me! With my flaws and all God sees me and says He has destined me for greatness! This is an attitude we all must maintain and remind ourselves of daily to achieve all that God has for us.

I will give thanks to you because I have been so amazingly and miraculously made. Your works are miraculous, and my soul is fully aware of this. -Psalm 139:14

LOVE YOUR HUSBAND: I love my husband! He was designed for me by God. But beyond the emotional butterflies that he gives me, there are also moments that are not so great. But as a woman following Christ, I can rely on the Holy Spirit to exemplify a steadfast love daily. I have not always gotten things right, but I always have an opportunity to humble myself, ask for forgiveness, and “reboot.” Never let yourself get into a stale state. Always look for opportunities to love on and show appreciation for one of God’s greatest gifts to us...our husbands. Don’t wait for a special occasion. As wives, we should be our husband’s biggest cheerleaders every day! Pray and ask God how to keep things fun and exciting in your relationship with each other. Every marriage is different, but the glue that helps us to stay committed and enjoying one another is the same. Seek the Holy Spirits guidance … and rely on His grace to give selflessly.

Love is patient, love is kind… -1 Corinthians 13:4

LOVE YOUR CHILDREN: My little munchkins!! My three boys ...They drive me to be better and they drive me insane… at times! The nonstop sibling rivalry and the constant fight to keep our bathrooms clean... it’s a lot, being a mom with three boys. It’s a lot just being a mom! As I teach and train them, I want my children to feel loved and to display love to others. It’s my responsibility to ask God how each of my children needs to be loved and the Holy Spirit will guide me and provide the tools necessary to do so.

Seek his will in all you do, and he will show you which path to take. -Proverbs 3:6

LOVE OTHERS: Loving others can seem like a daunting task when we already have our plates full. But it’s not our agenda here that matters. Jesus modeled for us the importance of loving individuals along our life’s journey. We never know how God will use us to be a blessing and be blessed by taking time to show love to others. Look for new ways to show love to who the Bible calls, “the least of these.” We are such a blessed society, but we can’t forget the many others who need to see God’s love displayed through us in a tangible way.

Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works and glorify your Father which is in heaven. – Matthew 5:16
